Yes, folks, you're reading that right. As if UTC didn't have enough
to do already, we will be holding an open tournament with questions
from the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament. This is
tentatively scheduled for Sat., June 14, 2003 (pending confirmation of
room reservations.) This will be an open academic tournament, with
all the NAQT trappings (including timed rounds and power tossups.) So
as to avoid actual direct competition with NAQT's HS NCT, we will not
be able to accept actual HS teams; however, HS players or new
graduates will be eligible to play on mixed-affiliation teams. As
will, well, anyone else except (a) those from NAQT who wrote the
questions and (b) those who heard them at the HS NCT. Further details
will follow, but if you're interested, drop me a line so I have some
idea of the level of participation we're looking at. Also let me know
if you'd be interested in a trash tournament on Sun. 6/15.
On top of that, we still plan to host Moc Masters and Muck
Masters, either the weekend of July 26 or the weekend of August 9. If
you have a strong preference between these two, please let me know.
