Re: The Not-quite-the-Elite-Circuit Circ

This topic should probably be dead now, but
...

1) The Sporting News, ESPN, etc., usually do a
profile on college basketball teams that you've never
heard of who are going to whup somebody big-time come
March Madness. They're not ACC or Big Ten, but they're
still dangerous. The wording is usually comparable to
the original title - schools which are not in Indiana
or Duke's class, but who are still dangerous.

The fact that Penn Bowl was run the same week tends
to support the fact that lots of smaller programs -
who may still be dangerous - who decided not to
tangle with Chicago, Maryland, Yale, et. al made Sword
Bowl (particularly good Mid-South teams who decided
not to trek to Philaddelphia in lousy weather. As
such, UTC probably had a lot of teams that, while they
may not be in Chicago's class yet, can still inflect
lots of damage come Regionals and
Nationals.

Conclusion - it's possible to interpret comments different
ways.

2) Please remember that posting/email does not allow
for much display of levells of emotion (sarcasm,
levity, etc.), and that what appears perfectly clear to
you may appear as an insult to someone else. On the
same note, please keep this in mind when you read
something that strikes you as arrogant before you bring
down vengeance upon them.

FYI - yes, I've
disobeyed the above request numerous times.
