Re: Michigan State Tournament

<<< I think it may be for the reasons we
continue with NAC: we've done relatively well there, it's
fun, and we can only afford to do one such tournament
a year--why defect from a tournament that we're
happy with? >>>

Not that there's
anything wrong. If you're satisfied, by all means, you
should return. I just make a note that many of the very
good high-caliber teams do not share your opinion
(that's it's either fun or of a quality deserving of a
true academic championship). If they did play at
Chip's, you probably wouldn't be doing so well. But
that's the way the ball bounces.

Seriously
though, I still need to have a good explanation of how
Chip does his matchups for his single-eliminations. I
can't ever figure out how he pairs teams up. They're
seeded, but the matches are really... well...
irrational.

Of course, I follow-up to your point: why spend the
money to go to only one national tournament if you can
spend less, play good teams, and have a much better
question set to challenge your kids? It's like saying (for
basketball analogies) you'd prefer playing the NIT over the
NCAA tournament just because the NIT is older and more
prestigious.
