Is this inherently problematic?  It's a genuine lit clue leading into 
a lit question.  The ACF hierarchy doesn't seem to have a problem 
with this in moderation--I think I recall Subash using a Vanity Fair 
clue to lead into a Johnson's Dictionary tossup a while back.
