BRRR 2003 Tournament Announcement

The Big Red Royal Rumble 2003: _Screw the Notebook_ will take place 
on October 4th, 2003 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, 
barring an administrative disaster.  I apologize that I have to put 
all the information in this post, but I'm still working on Cornell's 
web page, so I'll have to settle for this.

Fee Structure

Base Fee: $90 per team
Extra teams: -$10 per team
First time at BRRR: -$10
Working buzzer system: -$10
Experienced moderator: -$10
One-way travel of at least 400 miles: -$20*
One-way travel of at least 600 miles: -$40*

*As determined by MapBlast

Acceptable packet received before:
August 30: -$30
September 6: -$20
September 13: -$10
September 20: Regular deadline (no penalty)
Every day or part thereof after September 20: +$5
No packet (aside from special arrangements): +$75/Stay home
Packet sucks enough to warrant rewriting: +$20

Minimum Fee: $50 per team, aside from travel discounts

Notes on packet writing

Literature and history questions should be geographically and 
temporally diverse.  Also, don't write singly on novels or on any 
other format.

Vary the branches of science, and don't write too much biography or 
history of science.  Also, please don't write any calculation 
questions.  Not only are they a pain in the ass, but I can't 
calculate my way out of a paper bag, and hence, cannot edit them.

Arts must include at least 1/1 music.

For RMP, limit 1 question per major set of beliefs.  Have at least 1 
for each of religion, mythology, and philosophy.

Trash: vary between sports, movies, TV, music and other.

Overall, don't write anything that you would be pissed off to hear 
if you were playing.

Humor in question writing and team names is strongly encouraged.

As I said earlier, I'm working on a new Cornell website.  If and 
when I finish it, I'll post more specific information on there.
