Carnegie Mellon College Bowl is pleased to announce its first annual fall high school and junior bird tournament, Mellon Bowl I: Where's the Mike?, to be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003, in beautiful Pittsburgh, PA. The questions will be NAQT Invitational Series, with at least one exhibition round of TRASH written in-house. This tournament will be by design not incredibly difficult. Please note that this will _not_ be the same set used at Rochester's Frederick Douglass Invitational a week prior. The collegiate junior bird division will be according to NAQT Division II eligibility rules; this basically means that you can play if you're an undergrad and have never qualified for or played in NAQT's ICT. Full requirements are at http://www.naqt.com/division-ii.html, so you can be absolutely sure you're eligible. The high school division is open to any high school team. The field is tentatively capped at 12 high school / 12 collegiate teams, with a preference given to teams that are new to the QB scene. The projected fees are as follows: $65 for the first team, $50 for each team thereafter $20 additional if you'd like the question set, including a free binder if you pre-order. $5 discount for each buzzer system up to three $5 discount for each clock up to three $20 discount if you have to travel distances of 200 miles or more. If these fees pose a problem for you, but you'd still like to play, contact us and we'll work something out. To register, visit http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/org/college-bowl/mb2003/ before September 25. Even if you're not sure at this point and are just interested, please register anyway; we'll confirm with every team that registers before September 1. We'd love to see all of you in Pittsburgh in October! -- Jim Puls <jpuls_at_...> President-elect, Carnegie Mellon College Bowl
