Announcement - FOGHAT 2003: In the Mood For Something Rude

The fourth installment of my annual trash tournament F.O.G.H.A.T.
(Face-Off Gauging High Achievement in Trash) will be held Sunday
October 19, 2003. Like previous installments, F.O.G.H.A.T. 2003: In
the Mood For Something Rude will be held at my alma mater, the
University of Missouri-Rolla, which is located in exotic Rolla,
Missouri. Once again, it will be held the day after UMR's open
academic tourney, Rollapalooza. Listed below are some possible
questions about the tournament and corresponding answers. If you
have other questions or would like to register, please e-mail me at
jeremy_white (at) ameritech.net .

What kind of questions will be used?
No packet submission is required. Questions will be written by a
cabal consisting of various people associated with fomrer TRASHionals
champion BATTLEPLANET!!!, namely BATTLEPLANET!!! founder Dave Murphy,
BATTLEPLANET!!! Emeritus Ben Lea and rider of BATTLEPLANET!!! coat
tails, yours truly. A minimum of 14 packets of tasty trash will be
prepared. All packets will follow a topic distribution of roughly
20% Film, 20% Music, 20% TV, 20% Sports and 20% miscellaneous (lit,
games, consumables, etc.)

What is the format of the tournament?
Games will be untimed and consist of 20 toss-ups and however many
bonuses are earned. The overall competition format will be
determined once the number of teams is clearer.

What does it cost to enter?
The base fee this year will be $90, but that includes lunch and can
be reduced to as little as $40 if you take advantage of the following
discounts:
- $30 for bringing a competent moderator who can moderate for the
full tournament
- $10 for bringing a buzzer set
- $10 if any members of your team played or officiated at
Rollapalooza the day before

Will there be prizes?
There will be a wide array of trashy prizes. More than 50% of the
players in last year's FOGHAT left with a prize of some sort and I
will try to repeat that this year.

Are there mirror sites? Can my organization mirror FOGHAT?
Tennessee-Chattanooga will once again mirror FOGHAT as the Big Lots
Open. If you are interested in becoming another mirror site for
FOGHAT, let me know and we can discuss an arrangement.

Will legendary sports parody band Darling Mookie be performing again?
Almost certainly, especially if we can find a Youppi costume.

Thanks and I hope to see you at F.O.G.H.A.T.!
