UGA Paul C Parker Juniorbird Update Jul 22, 2003

Hello all,

So far, we have had a major response to the UGA Paul C Parker Debt
Relief NAQT College Juniorbird Tournament.

As of today, the following schools have signed on to this adventure:
UGA
Valencia CC (2 teams)
South Georgia
Bainbridge
Palm Beach CC (2 teams)
Dalton State
Abraham Baldwin Ag College
Furman
Wofford
Ga. Perimeter
Ga. State
Morehouse
South Carolina
Clemson

The following schools have shown interest, but have yet to formally
sign up yet (which is fine, there's plenty of time)
Ga. Tech
Florida
Armstrong Atlantic St. Univ.

The following schools have been extended invites, but have been yet
to be heard from (once again, this is fine, we still have plenty of
time)
Emory
UTC
Macon State
Savannah State
South Carolina State
Oxford College

Right now, if every school on this list replied, there would be 25
teams playing, which is great. Even if every team on this didn't
reply, we would still have a good number of teams and rounds.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT: All schools will be divided into two divisions
(this number may change to better fit the number of teams). Each
division will play a round robin. From this point, the top teams will
go on to a playoff format, either single elimination or a head to
head type. This will be finalized once I know exactly how many teams
show up.

EXTRAS: Seeing how we have a lot of schools from Georgia, South
Carolina and Florida, we will award the highest scoring school from
each state regardless of division. Also, we will award the highest
scorers in each division and award the first and second place teams
at the end of the tournament.

HOTELS: Seeing how our football team is on the road this weekend (at
LSU), getting a hotel room in Athens should not be hard. If you want
some suggestions as to where to stay, please feel free to contact me.
Hotwire.com had rooms at a 2.5 star hotel for around 75 a night,
which is good for Athens in the fall.

Also, for those interested in the UGA Tournament by the Sea, we now
have five slots remaining with the addition of a team from South
Carolina and Armstrong Atlantic State University. Better hurry now
before they're all gone!

Thanks and keep your eyes peeled for more updates in the coming weeks
