ANNOUNCEMENT: Mid-Atlantic ACF Fall Tournament

The Maryland Academic Quiz Team is pleased to announce that
it will be hosting the Mid-Atlantic ACF Fall Tournament. Not
surprisingly, this tournament will be held at the University of
Maryland in College Park, MD.

Important: This tournament will be held Sunday, November 2. Yes,
that is the day after the other ACF Fall Tournaments are held. You
can come November 1, but good luck finding a parking space with all
the football fans in town.

Kelly has done a great job with these question sets in the past, and
I expect this year to be no different, so I encourage _everyone_ to
come. I want you to experience the joy as well. There will be
prizes for the top teams (overall and novice) and top scorers
(overall and novice).

Anyway, to register email me at the address at the bottom of this
message. Please include "ACF Fall" in the subject header so I know
you are registering for ACF Fall Tournament and not the Terrapin
Invitational Tournament, which is the previous weekend (see message
12926).

Base fee: $80 per team
Working buzzer: -$10
Experienced moderator: -$10
Travel: -$10 per 300 miles (per school)
Novice: -$10 for not having previously attended an official ACF
tournament (per school)
Parking: free on weekends!
Minimum fee per team: $40

Packet discounts/penalties:
September 5: -$25
September 19: -$10
September 26: $0
October 10: +$15
October 17: +$30

Packet requirements can be found in message 12906. Some important
points:

- Look carefully to see if your team has to write a packet.

- Send packets directly to Kelly McKenzie: ksmcke0 at hotmail.com

- Format your packets correctly!

- Carefully read the Difficulty section. Read it again. Read it a
third time. This guidelines in this section are very important and
must be followed if everyone is to enjoy themselves. This includes
Kelly, who will be pissed off if you blow them off. He might even
return your packet.

- Kelly will not accept any packets after October 17 unless you make
prior arrangements with him.

So get started, and I expect to see you Sunday, November 2 in College
Park.
