We had 18 teams from (I think) 12 schools compete in today's ninth
Gateway Invitational Tournament. After 12 rounds (including prelims
and rebracketing) the standings were:
1. U of Chicago A
2. UIUC
3. KU A
4. Depauw
5. Tulsa
6. Truman State A
After a one game final, University of Chicago A won the ninth GIT
with a 12-0 record.
Martin Smith (with the most powers, tossups, AND negs of any one
individual) of U of Chicago was the top scorer, Matthew Marjan
followed. I seem to have misplaced the sheet stating the rest of
the top 10 (sorry, I don't own the computer we ran stats on) but
they featured scorers from 9 different teams, so most walked away
with some tangible hardware. The full stats will be posted probably
sometime this week. Thanks to all teams for coming and for Delano
Barnes for offering to moderate all day, and to the adult advisor
from Depauw whose name I didn't get, but was kind to be an on call
official (which we took him up on at the end) for some ailing staff
members. Very heartfelt thanks for that.
