NAQT Southwest SCT Update

At this point, I think all the schools are signed up that I think are
gonna sign up: all the active programs, plus a few schools new to
NAQT (to the new schools, welcome!) Here are the schools so far
registered for the 2004 NAQT Southwest SCT, on February 7 at the
University of Arkansas:

Division I:
Kansas
Oklahoma 1-2
Texas A&M Grad
Texas A&M Undergrad
Wichita State
Rice
Truman State
Texas-Austin

Division II:
Missouri-Rolla 2-3
Tulsa
Oklahoma State 2-3
Oklahoma 1-2
Southwest Missouri State
Truman State 1-2
Texas-Dallas 1-2
Texas-Austin

Teams showing interest in Division II:
Texas A&M Undergrad
Louisiana State
Ole Miss
Louisiana-Lafayette
Rice

To the teams/schools that have shown interest, please let me know as
soon as possible whether or not you will be attending; we have room
for you, and the more the merrier. To the teams with dashed numbers
beside your schools' names, that indicates that the number of teams
you have registered is uncertain; please let me know exactly how many
Division I and Division II teams you will be bringing as soon as
possible. If you are Division I, please let me know if you are
eligible for the Undergraduate title as soon as possible. I hope to
have schedules out to you guys two days in advance, and logistics for
a 25+ team tournament (especially when the HTIC doesn't get assigned
the rooms he first asked for in NOVEMBER) will get easier with more
advanced notice. Speaking of rooms, sign-in will be held at 8:00
a.m. in room 116 of the Walton College of Business, with rules
meeting at 8:45 a.m. and play to begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Also, questions will be available in Division I and Division II (the
two divisions are using separate questions this year). The cost of
the questions is $25 each. Please let me know in advance whether you
will be purchasing questions, and in what divisions. If you want
questions and you don't let me know in advance, then you may have to
have them mailed to you after the tournament, as I am only making
enough copies to run the tournament unless teams order in advance.
Also, please let me know how many buzzers and moderators/scorekeepers
you are bringing. Though we project having enough staff, we can
always use help, and discounts will be still in effect. We definitely
can't play without your buzzers.

The deadline to register or to finalize entries is Friday, January 31
at 11:59:59 p.m.; this deadline will be strictly enforced. Again, the
sooner the better for everyone involved. I can be contacted at
jdh22_at_... (jdh22 AT uark DOT edu). In logistical planning, if
you are listed as "showing interest," I will err on the side of
assuming you are coming, and if the number of teams is uncertain, I
will assume the higher number of teams. I will be sending out a final
update once the field closes.

I look forward to seeing all of you here in sunny Fayetteville in a
couple of weeks!

Sincerely,

Joshua Hill
