Re: NAQT ICT Division I Field

I find this statement rather silly. The power
tossup is by no means an indication of a team's quizbowl
strength. It's just one of those stats which isn't even
particularly well correlated to how often a team will win. The
power tossup rewards depth of knowledge, but *at least*
as important in quizbowl is a breadth of
knowledge--if your team only answers 5 tossups correctly, you
will lose, even if you power them
all.

Personally, I find all this talk about statistical analysis
very interesting--I'd be even more interested in
seeing the actual "formula" (if there is in fact one
such equation) that is used to compare teams across
different sectionals. I also offer my congratulations to
NAQT for deft handling of the Dartmouth/Rutgers
situation.

With 7 div 2 bids now to go with 8 div 1 bids, can
there be any doubt that the NE SCT was the strongest,
most competititive, and best-looking of all the SCTs?
