AMT2 Update

Question submission for AMT2 is now over; please don't
send me any more questions. If you still want to play
but didn't send me questions, just let me know, then
show up with $5 (taking a page from UGA) and we'll
assign you to 2 of our questions.

Since people asked what the format is, I've attached
an explanation. I've also updated the field (of 20)
and assigned people (tentatively) to rooms, see below.

Ray.

*** 2nd annual All Movies Tournament (AMT2). ***

"Everything you always wanted to know about the
movies, but were afraid to ask, answered in tossup
format."

May 22nd, after "I Know Kung-Fu," at UC Berkeley,
probably late afternon. TDed by Ray and Eok.

*** Format. ***

We played 4 seeding rounds of 40 questions each,
with rounds 1 and 4 containing 30 questions by Ray and
10 questions by Eok each, and rounds 2 and 3
containing 20 questions by the players and 10
questions by Eok and 10 questions by Ray each. The 20
question final was written by Ray.

We had two rooms, an upper level room 1 and a lower
level room 2. We distributed the players to have a
roughly equal number of strong players in each room
before round 1. A player is ranked when she get to 60
points, at which point she must refrain from buzzing
in further. Tie scores at the end of the round are
broken by who got to that score first. After round 1,
the upper half of scorers in each room move on to room
1 while the lower half of scorers in each room move on
to room 2. After round 2, the 3 lowest scorers from
room 1 move on to room 2, while the 3 highest scorers
from room 2 move on to room 1. After round 3, the
lowest scorer from room 1 move on to room 2, while the
highest scorer from room 2 move on to room 1. The
highest 2 scorers in room 1 in round 4 move on to the
final. Ties in the final are broken by overtime
questions.

   Initial assignment (tentative): Thomas, Matthew,
Charles, Nick, David, Brendan, Martha, Salpi, Andrew,
Jim in room 1; Willie, Steve, Miguel, Seth, Matt,
Juliana, Lev, Yi, Jordan, Pratik in room 2.
