While this may be a valid point, that still does
not answer the question of why only six teams should
be eligible for the championship. Why are teams 7
through 12, say, ineligible, even though their records
are not substantially worse? How much bearing does
the strength of schedule played on Friday night have
on the Swiss pairs seeding for Saturday
morning?
