SNEWT IX Official Announcement

Swarthmore College Bowl is proud to present SNEWT IX, our annual
modified ACF
packet submission juniorbird. This year's tournament will be
held on Saturday,
November 13, 2004, at Swarthmore College (Kohlberg Hall).

Eligibility: All team members must be undergraduates in their first
or second year of
intercollegiate, non-CBI competition. In addition, all team members
must be enrolled
at the same school in order to be eligible for the championship.

Fees: A school's first team has a base fee of $85, including
breakfast and a pizza for
lunch; second teams are $60, and all additional teams are $50. The
minimum fee for
a team is $40.
	-$10 for a working buzzer
	-$10 for an experienced moderator
-$10 for every 250 miles traveled (by Mapquest)
+$10 for an extra pizza (in addition to the one already provided for
each team)

-$15 by midnight, Wednesday Oct. 13
-$0 by midnight, Wednesday Oct. 27
+$15 by midnight, Wednesday Nov. 3
+$25 by midnight, Sunday Nov. 7
+$35 for anything submitted later, or for no packet at all from a
team required
to submit one

Packet Writing Requirements: All teams with at least one second-year
player must
submit a packet. Teams from programs "new to the circuit"
are neither required nor
expected to write a packet. Teams composed entirely of first-year
players from
school with experienced programs are encouraged to write a packet
– presumably
with guidance from older players; contact me if you need to discuss
an exemption.

Packet Guidelines/Format: We are asking for 25 tossups and 25 bonuses
with a
difficulty at or slightly below ACF Fall. Basic guidelines can be
found at http://
www.dpo.uab.edu/~paik/acf/acfguide.html. If you have any more
questions (about
difficulty or style, for instance), you can contact me at eullman1
