Well, I don't think you're that far off here. There are at least two calendars already in existience that I can think of: - http://www.collegequizbowl.org/calendar/ - http://www.e-falk.com/qb/ though I believe the latter is more out of date. The issue here isn't with creating a calendar, it's getting TDs to USE it. In addition, I know Matt Weiner and others have gone to the extra step of creating a monthly e-newsletter for the Mid-Atlantic region that lists upcoming tournaments. Perhaps something like this for other (arbitrary) geographical regions might be worth creating as well, provided there are people willing to take on the responsibility. What I noticed, at least from reading the Route 66 discussion, was that the problem of moving the Route 66 tournament was that it conflicted with other events on other campuses, not necessarily quizbowl related. Personally, I'm not sure the issue could have been resolved simply by advocating the use of ANOTHER caldendar, but that's my slightly buzzed $.02. Yes this means more work for TDs (about 5 minutes) but that is much smaller than the hassle of rescheduling a tourney and changing reservations. This will also help new teams who are unfamilliar with all the named tournaments determine which ones are close by. This is merely the babblings of my own brain, take or leave whatever you wish, but as QB evolves we will need to improve tourney scheduling somehow.
