I don't see why there needs to be any sort of format war here. I just
want to know who exactly is "dismayed" about the success of Ken
Jennings and Kevin Olmstead, and why it was necessary to relate said
imaginary people to those who "cherish the game as a purely
intellectual endeavor." I don't see what else that passage can be
other than a swipe at certain opinions, which was not only entirely
uncalled for in an article that should be promoting the game in
general, but fundamentally dishonest in implying that people who hold
said opinions have anything but the highest regard for Ken Jennings,
Kevin Olmstead, other quizbowl personalities who have succeeded on
game shows, and their accomplishments.
