Re: IMPORTANT PENN BOWL INFO

I have to both agree and disagree with Chris. It seems like Jan 22 is
the best date for Penn Bowl for a variety of reasons. It's about the
usual time for it, Sword Bowl (which is a great tournament for less
experienced teams in the South) would likely struggle without Penn
Bowl packets available to peruse for questions, and I don't see why
having it just a week before the new ATC tournament really matters.
Since there are multiple hosts for that one, teams would presumably
have to travel a smaller distance to get to those than to Philly.
They may both be packet submission, but teams should have plenty of
time over winter breaks to put them together. I didn't see anything
listed for Feb 12, though, which is between NAQT and CBI, so is that
another option just in case?

As for the ATC, I think they can meet their difficulty goals based on
a couple packets from ACF Fall. During a bye round for us, I read
Matt Weiner's round for a match between our Div II team and Ga Tech's
DII team. Even though our B team went 0-8, they had their highest
point total that round (about 230), and I think 19 tossups were
answered. I don't remember much about Princeton's packet (presumably
largely written by Frankel), but I do recall it being plenty
accessible. I guess we'll see if it was their writing or
Matt/Subash's editing...
