Re: Jeopardy Eligibility

My guess is that this would make you *more* desirable as a player. I
tried out when I was 22 and a college senior (just starting to have
thinning hair), and I felt I looked too old. IMO, everyone looked
younger than I. I passed the test fine but then couldn't get through
the subjective screening process.

Here is my advice to anyone trying out for Jeopardy! (or any other
game show)...

1. Prepare ahead of time five interesting/funny things about yourself.
The more ridiculous/memorable, the better. Providing these as part
of you paperwork is a typical staple of tryouts.

2. Also be prepared with some crazy answer for: "What would you do if
you won the $100,000 grand prize?" Don't say, "Pay off my college
loans." Think of something like a home for Tsunami orphans in which
they can be inculcated with Jeopardy! or something silly like that.

3. If you pass the test, you will usually go through a second
screening in which you will play a mock game along with a few others.
Make sure you speak up, appear confident, and answer with aplomb.
Having some prepared jokes and/or humorous bits at the ready but
appearing extemporaneous also might help. I found out the hard way
that people who seem "outrageous" usually get picked. The nice,
timid, mild-mannered types are likely to be overlooked.
