Full Canadian SCT Results

Hello,

3 Division I and 8 Division II teams met at the
University of Ottawa for the 2005 NAQT Canadian SCT,
Ottawa's biggest hosted tournament yet.  After a
combined round-robin, teams were split into playoff
brackets of top 4/middle 4/low 3.  The results are as
follows:

TOP BRACKET

1.  Cornell (D1)  12-1
2t.  Toronto A (D1)  10-3
2t.  McGill B (D2)  10-3
4.  Alfred (D2)  7-6

MIDDLE BRACKET

5.  McMaster (D2)  7-6
6t.  Toronto B (D2)  6-7
6t.  Carleton (D2)  6-7
8.  McGill A (D1)  5-8

LOW BRACKET

9.  Wilfrid Laurier (D2)  4-8
10.  McGill C (D2)  2-10
11.  Brock* (D2)  1-11

( * Brock had a much longer team name for the
tournament; it is shortened here)

Congratulations to Cornell University for taking
Division 1, as well as the tournament. 
Congratulations to McGill B for taking Division 2 and
the Undergraduate title.  A special thank you to the
schools new to NAQT that attended:  Alfred, Brock,
Carleton, and Wilfrid Laurier.

Matt Reece of Cornell was the top individual at 65
ppg.  Eric Smith of Toronto A was the top Canadian at
53 ppg.  Andy Saunders of Brock was the top D2 player
at 48 ppg.  John Ratcliffe of Wilfrid Laurier was the
top rookie at 31 ppg.  Thank you to the numerous
players who either participated in their first NAQT
tournament, or first tournament altogether.

Thanks goes out to Rico Catibog, Zhan Huan Zhou, Bobby
Hsu, Philippe Marchand, and Michelle Bishop for taking
out a Saturday to help staff the tournament.  Thanks
to U of O ICT reps Jeff Gordon, Shauna McNally, and
Tamara Vardomskaya for reading.  Thanks to the Lisgar
HS students who got some volunteer hours through
scorekeeping.  And of course, thanks to all the
players and teams that came out for the tournament.
