Re: FAMU wins HCASC!

Oooh, goody, a flame war! We didn't have these when I was young.
Mind if I take a shot at it?

Item #1: This was/is a more urgent matter. I felt your original post
needed to be mitigated by opinions to the contrary as quickly as
possible, so anyone from the HCASC who found this discussion would
not assume that your views were representative of the quizbowl
community in general. As Tom notes in his post on
collegequizbowl.org, similar insults have led some key HCASC coaches
to decide they don't want to get involved in circuit tournaments. I
have never heard of anyone who stayed away from future quizbowl
tournaments because they were personally offended by the slow posting
of results.

Item #2: Interesting you mention that last item, since to my
knowledge it hasn't been posted anywhere, strongly implying that you
were present at ACF Nationals. Maybe that will narrow down the list
of candidates for your secret identity. (BTW, this is NOT to imply
that ACF has any connection to these remarks. I have been supportive
of ACF since its inception and would not want to imply anything to
the contrary.)

Item #3: Guilty as charged; I'm usually slow in posting results
because right after a tournament I have to catch up on all the
details of the rest of my life that I've pushed to the back burner
all week -- not the least of which is time with my daughters. (Plus
I'm freakin' exhausted from trying to make my aged body run for as
many hours as it did when I was 25.) But I can understand why you'd
be frustrated to have to wait so long for results to get posted -- if
indeed you didn't know who Andrew Young was, then you must have to
scroll all the way to the bottom of those results to find *your*
scores.

(Gee. That kind of felt good. Even if this isn't exactly "showing
what a good guy" I am.)
