If you have about $200, modest wiring skills, and a usable work space, you can
build your own eight-person buzzer set pretty easily.  I am currently preparing
to do exactly that for the University of Rochester team.  The parts can mostly
be found at RadioShack, though for some you will need to look elsewhere —
electronicplus.com had everything else I needed in their catalog, although not
in stock.  I can send you the circuit diagrams I am working from and a brief
explanation if you wish.

Alternatively, I can try and find a work space at college and *I* can build one
for you for $250.
