TRASH Regionals Midsouth 2005: full results, stats, gratitude

Congratulations again to My Chemical Romanson Williams, winners of
TRASH Regionals Midsouth on Sat. 11/12/05. Results follow below, but
first some gratitude. Thanks to our house readers, only one of whom
did not have the first name James: James Dinan, James Quintong, James
Washick, (James) Keith Hudson, and Seth Kendall. Thanks to Shannon
Edmondson, UTC's self-proclaimed Stats Bitch, for handling stats for
most of the day, and to Stats Demigod Emeritus Wally Edmondson for
helping me out after Shannon had to leave. Thanks to John Kilby for
taking charge of room and buzzer setup. And of course thanks to
TRASH for providing so many tasty trash questions for our buzzing
pleasure.

Now, those promised results...

Teams played a full round robin, after which they were divided into
an upper division of 4 teams and a lower division of 5 teams. They
then played three rounds of modified Swiss pairings. Final standings
were:

For their achievements, members of the top four teams got their
choice of albums -- four by Barbra Streisand, four by Donna Summer,
four by Christopher Cross, and four by Loggins and Messina... well,
actually, two by Kenny Loggins, one by Jimmy Messina, and one by
*Dave* Loggins.

I'll post some stuff on bragging rights, speed buzzes, and gloriously
wrong answers once we can break radio silence on question content,
but I can offer a few other points of recognition.

The John Drennen Wiley Rollins Award for Outstanding Achievement in
Buzzer Aggression went to John Drennen Wiley Rollins, who withstood
fierce competition to rack up 20 negs. Dren was awarded the Hall and
Oates album "Big Bam Boom," which aptly enough features "Out of
Touch, Out of Time."

Competition was also fierce for Title IX All-Star, with Catherine
Bloom and Christine Adams swapping the lead all day long. In the
end, we decided to award Helen Reddy albums to both, though Catherine
got "I Am Woman."

Owing to your genial quizmaster's inability to count at the end of a
long day, All-Star recognition was given to the top eleven individual
scorers. They chose Chinese auction-style from albums by the likes
of Wang Chung, Engelbert Humperdinck, Night Ranger, and Neil Diamond
(specifically "The Jazz Singer.") Full individual results were:
