PACE NSC 2006 announcement #1

Registration Information

Teams that wish to compete in the 2006 PACE NSC should pay attention
to any listed registration deadlines. NCSSM insists on strict
adherence to these deadlines by all teams and volunteers.

Registration Fees per team
$425 for maximum 6 players NO EXCEPTIONS
$275 minimum entry fee
$100 surcharge for registration after May 1
All entry fees include copies of all NSC tournament questions since
1998.

Discounts listed can be applied to checks submitted postmarked
before or on April 15 (receive by May 1).

Discounts per team:
$75 early registration (received by May 1)
$50 PACE bid qualification OR first-time PACE NSC participant
$25 per buzzer system (maximum 4)

The cap is 48 teams. Schools who have received two PACE automatic
bids may register for up to three teams if space is available. Other
schools are limited to two teams, but may add a third with
permission from the Tournament Organizer.

PACE strongly encourages participation of underclassmen and strives
for a collegial, diverse environment at the NSC.

All entry fees received before April 15 are refundable.

=====

On-Campus Housing

Hunt Dormitory can accommodate 195 participants and volunteers.
Spaces will be made available on a first-come first-served basis,
but we ask that you send your housing checks to us ahead of time. On-
site registration will take place in the first floor of Hunt on
Friday. We will likely conclude any registration by 9:00 pm, so if
you plan to arrive later, let us know.

Residents will be separated into single-sex sections accessible only
by electronic key. Most of the rooms are doubles and triples with
twin-size beds. NCSSM insists that each team be accompanied by a
responsible adult.

One electronic key (accesses the appropriate male-only or female-
only section) will be distributed to the team; if both genders are
represented on the team, we will issue two electronic keys as
appropriate. In addition, standard keys will be given for assigned
rooms. Each section has social spaces to foster student and adult
interaction, so anyone can set up "scrimmages" on each floor/section
as appropriate.

Because of this, all housing rosters are locked after April 15. It
will become an increasingly difficult burden to switch people after
that time.

NCSSM will provide security for both evenings, and that will be
covered by your housing fee.

Every effort will be made to reasonably accommodate all requests for
housing (regarding disability access), and we will try to keep all
teams and schools together. We cannot guarantee that all adult
chaperones will be housed in separate rooms from their students.

All student residents must read and sign the NCSSM Guidelines for
Student Behavior prior to attending the competition. The copy of the
Guidelines will be sent to the team contact upon initial pre-
registration., and all signed copies must be returned to PACE by
April 15 (received by May 1). Teams should retain a copy for their
own records.

Housing fee: $40 per person due by April 15, with Guidelines for
Student Behavior

What is covered with housing fee?
• Housing for Friday evening and Saturday evening. (If you need
Sunday evening, let us know before April 15 so I can make those
arrangements; it is an additional $10 per person.)
• Breakfast for Saturday morning and Sunday morning.
• Electronic key access and regular keys for individual rooms

What do we have to bring?
• Own linens and toiletries
• Own phones

=====

April 15: Early bird registration deadline.
The following must be received at that time:
• Registration fee
• Housing fees (available on a first-come, first-served basis)
• Medical form/waiver and Guidelines for Student Behavior (copy will
be sent to the team contact upon initial contact/registration for
the tournament)
• Housing Roster (name, gender, student/adult status)

Other officials and volunteers may also request housing, which will
be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Internet access

Public terminals will be available in the third floor of Watts
building where games will take place. While there is a wireless
internet network on-campus, one must register with NCSSM to gain
access, and the Summer Programs administrators have requested that
we restrict wireless capability to PACE senior administrators only.

=====

Checks should be made payable to Partnership for Academic
Competition Excellence. Please let me know if you require an invoice
for processing.
