Re: Interesting QB article on the Web

I was just looking over my Friday post again and was taken aback by how defensive I came
across. I was a bit depressed in anticipation of criticism about what was, at some level, a
critique of NAQT and the game, not to mention the disappointment of everyone who
spoke with me for this piece and didn't get to see their name in print. So, I'd like to take
this post to thank everyone who helped me with this story in all of its myriad forms. My
apologies if I misspell anyone's name or forget anyone.

Thanks to (in chronological order of interviews): Chris Romero, Dan Passner, Charlie
Steinhice, Matt Weiner, James Dinan, Jerry V. and the (as of 2004) UC-Berkeley team, Peter
Freeman, Eric Hilleman, Pat Matthews, Craig Barker, Carol Guthrie, David Goodman, Sue
Kayton, Chad Kubichek, Chris Golde, Kevin Olmstead, Kemin Fleming, Subash, Andrew
Yaphe, Matt Bruce, Doug Bone, Dr. Gordon Carper, David Frazee, Dwight Kidder, Dan
Benediktson and the Princeton team, Jeremy Horwitz, and Ken Jennings.

Special thanks go to: Robert Hentzel and Emily Pike for having me as a guest in their
home, and especially to Robert for the hours and hours of interviews he endured; Dom
Ricci, Sudheer Potru, Mike Sorice and the rest of the U of I team for allowing me to attend
the 2004 Illinois Open and to shadow them at the 2005 NAQT ICT. I would have played for
all four years at U of I if they had been my teammates. And thanks go to Maribeth and
Richard Mason, who not only had me as a guest, but drove all night from LA to Berkeley to
attend WIT with me and then hauled me back with them to LA.

I couldn't have written this piece without any of you. Thank you all so much.

Sincerely,

Greg
