NAQT Maryland Championships Reminder March 25, 2006

This year's Maryland State Championships move to Hammond High School,
March 25, 2006. For the past seven years, Hammond has hosted its Green
Eggs and Hammond Invitational with much success. We are honored to host
this year's NAQT major qualifier for all high schools in Maryland and
the District of Columbia. Schools from other states are not eligible
for this competition.

The tournament will be held using the official NAQT rules
<http://www.naqt.com/rules.html> . The primary points to know are:

    * Each round contains two 9-minute halves. In the absence of clocks,
10 tossups with unrelated boni will be read for each half.
    * All teams play at least 7 games before a championship bracket
    * Teams of 1 to 4 players are competing.
    * No verbal or written conferring on tossups. Conferring during
bonus questions is allowed.
    * Overtime has 3 tossups before sudden death.
    * Powerbuzzing is allowed.
    * All teams will receive a free copy of the questions
    * Registration is $60 for the first team, $55 for additional teams.
    * A $10 discount is available for a working buzzer set.

Please register for your teams by replying to this email
(bjenkins_at_... <mailto:bjenkins_at_...?subject=green eggs and
hammond tournament> ). In your reply, include the coach's full name,
email address, school phone, home phone, and the name of each team's
captain. Include how many teams you wish to bring, and how many working
buzzer systems you will have with you. You may also telephone with this
information to 410-313-7615. Please register before March 10 to ensure
your entry. We have a maximum of 40 spots available for the tournament.
Your first two teams will be automatically registered; however, due to
an interest in fielding the widest diversity of teams, all teams after
your first two will be on a temporary waiting list.

Our tournament is a NAQT qualifying tournament for the 2006 NAQT High
School National Championship
<http://www.naqt.com/hsnct/2006/2006-hs-nct-details.html> , June 2-4, in
Chicago. The top two teams receive an automatic bid in this year's
national tournament.

To ensure concurrent rounds, we need at least 25 total buzzers!
