Re: What's up with NAQT ICT Invitations

As the person above me stated, undergraduate SCT champions do not get
bids unless there are at least 4 UG teams competing at their SCT.

As for NAQT's secret formula, I will help you out: you get a bid by
answering questions (# of tossups), answering them early (# of
powers), having depth of knowledge (bonus conversion) and winning
games (win percentage). It's not that complicated.

I resent the fact that you can think you can go .500 in a relatively
weak sectional and get a bid just because you happen to finish ahead
of the one or two undergrad teams there; I resent the fact that you
think this is somehow more of an accomplishment than Michigan or
Princeton finishing 2nd at their SCT with much tougher competition and
much better stats.

on before, but this year it is getting a bit ridiculous. If you
showed up to the Northeast SCT, you barely had to get a .333 win
percentage to get a bid or be put in the top six of the waitlist (7 of
9 Northeast region teams fit that description). In the Southwest,
unless you were Texas A&M, you're out in the cold.
