Call for Bids for 2000-2001 NAQT HS NCT

National Academic Quiz Tournaments, LLC, is
pleased to announce that it is now accepting bids from
quiz bowl clubs, colleges, high schools, and other
institutions to host the High School National Championship
Tournament (HS NCT) in the 2000-2001 competition
year.

The HS NCT will be held the weekend of June 8-9,
2001. Interested hosts should e-mail naqt_at_... by
May 1, 2000, to indicate their desire to host. NAQT
hopes to announce the selected site by June 1, 2000. It
is possible that the date of the tournament will
change by a week; hosts with submitted bids will be
notified of any change in order to determine whether it
affects their proposals.

Factors that NAQT will
consider in making the decision include:

*
Proximity to a major airport
* Availability of gamerooms
and hotel rooms
* Enthusiasm of the
institution
* Experience of the institution
* Availability
of moderators, scorekeepers, and other officials in
the area
* Unique perks a host site or club is
willing to provide (theme park, etc.)

The
application to host must be made by a team member, advisor,
or other official who plans on remaining with the
host club or institution throughout the 2000-2001
competition year and who intends to take an active role in
the planning and execution of the event.

NAQT
members and other personnel will be at the site of the
tournament and will serve as Tournament Director for the HS
NCT.

The hosting institution will receive $20 per team in
attendance; the field size is expected to be 64 teams but may
change depending on the number of qualifying tournaments
held during the coming year.

The host club or
institution will be expected to deal with room reservations,
tour arrangements, travel arrangements, assisting
teams to and from the tournament area, helping out with
publicity, setting up the game rooms and computer equipment,
officials, and other tasks necessary to the running of a
smooth tournament. It will also be expected to provide a
substantial number of qualified game officials.
