Tournament by the Sea IV: Frick-in A! (1942 Rose Bowl Edition) ANNOUNCEMENT

The Jekyll Island Tournament by the Sea IV:
Frick-in A! (1942 Rose Bowl Edition)

The annual Jekyll Island Tournament by the Sea will be held Saturday,
March 10, 2007, in Athens, GA, in the Cedar Shoals High School Fine
Arts Building, due to a logistical issue with the Jekyll Island
Convention Center. This is a trash tournament, and packet submission
is required to play. We are looking into a packet swap with the
annual Cancel Bowl (or any other tournament in and around that same
timeframe) in Boston, so we hope to have some packets for playoffs.
Packet requirements are listed below.

Here is the fee schedule:

Base fee: $100
Second team: +$70
Third and subsequent teams: +$60

NOTE: If you bring more than one team, please insure packet security
and make sure those who wrote questions are all on the same packet.

Discounts: All discounts are applied to the initial subtotal of all
team(s):
Packet discount: packet in before 11-59-59pm, Saturday, February 17,
2007: -$20
Packet discount: packet in before 11-59-59pm, Saturday, February 24,

Packet in between March 3 and March 7, 2007: +$20
Packet handed in day of tournament: +$30

If you have some issues with your packet or the pricing, please
contact us and we'll work out a deal.

Buzzer discount: -$5
Travel discount:
0-100: no discount
101-200 miles: -$10
Over 200 miles: -$15

MINIMUM FEE: $65 for one team, $140 for two and $180 for three teams.

Packet Requirements: (23 TU/Boni)
2 - 4 Movies
2 - 4 TV
2 - 4 Sports
2 - 4 Music
1 - 3 Trashy "literature"
1 - 3 Trashy current events
No more than 2 each:
Computer games & other computer stuff
Comics, comic strips, etc.
Food & beverage
Toys & gadgets
Consumerama
Board games
Roadside America
Anything else you deem trashy enough is fine as long as there are no
more than two questions per as-yet-unnamed category.

SCI-FI RULE: As SCI-FI can transcend several of these categories,
please limit your self to one Sci-Fi question per TU and Bonus.

Free Agents: If you're interested in coming but cannot field a full
team, I am sure there will be free agent opportunities. Please let me
know if you wish to fall under that category.

Team cap: Due to the fact we're not at the JICC, we're not placing
our usual 9 team cap, so bring as many teams as you like, as long as
each team writes a packet. I don't see us going way over that limit,
but it's a possibility.

Format: We will play a full RR (either single or double depending on
the number of teams present), with playoffs if there are packets to
do so. Also, Mark Franklin will once again bring his music for the
annual Time-Life Strife Music Round.

Regardless of the location, we will still uphold the traditional
Jekyll Island extras, including the style points, the game show
halftimes and the mulligan- and this year, we'll finally add the
phone-a-friend bonus! If you have no idea what these are, don't
worry, we'll explain.

So far, we've had the following team show extreme interest:

Arlo Lyle and friends
Mark Franklin and friends
Jeff Zahnen, Mike Napier and friends
GA Perimeter
South GA (maybe multiple teams)
UTC (John Kilby and friends)
South FL (maybe multiple teams)

The following have expressed interest:
Florida (Travis Vitello and Melissa)
