2007 Benjamin Cooper Awards Announcement

The Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence proudly announces
the 2007 recipients of the Benjamin Cooper Awards.

The Academic Ambassador Award: Julie Gittings of State College Area HS
For her years of mentoring players of HS quizbowl and being an
ambassador to the game.

The Young Crusader Award: Evan Silberman of Thomas Jefferson HS for
Science and Technology
Not only has Evan been a very vocal and helpful member of the High
School Quiz Bowl community (in the DC area and elsewhere), his
leadership has kept the TJ team going in the absence of a formal advisor
or coach.

PACE congratulates both Julie and Evan; they will be formally recognized
for their contributions in service to the high school academic
competition circuit at the 2007 National Scholastics Championship.

We also thank everyone who has provided assistance/input in selecting
this year's award recipients. Selection is -- as it has been for years
-- a fairly tough decision. We look forward to seeing everyone in Ann
Arbor on the weekend of June 9-10!

Regards,
Tricia Southard
Cooper Awards Coordinator
on behalf of the Benjamin Cooper Awards Committee and PACE
