Re: NAQT site info

My apologies for the previos
truncation!

National Academic Quiz Tournaments
Intercollegiate
Championship Tournament
Site Information

Since
enough people have asked, here is a condensed version of
the site info.

The College of Arts and
Sciences is a large building at 685 and 725 Commonwealth
Avenue.
The Tsai Performance Center, site of Friday's opening
meeting, is a large auditorium just inside the 685 Comm
Ave entrance. It is right across the street from the
"Boston University East" above-ground trolley stop. There
are three red banners over the doorway -- you can't
miss it.

Please be there by 6 p.m. if you can.
Play will begin no later than 7 p.m.

>From the
Howard Johnson's on Commonwealth Avenue, simply exit
HoJo's, go west (right) on the sidewalk on the same side
of the street. The CAS building is 5-7 minutes away
on foot.

>From elsewhere, especially driving,
see directions linked from

PARKING: HoJo's has free parking for its guests. Other
than that, in the words of longtime Boston University
quiz elder Mark Coen, "good luck." Since I'm here to
provide better answers than that, here is what I
know:

Meters shut off at 6 p.m. along Comm Ave. If you can
find a spot (after 5 you probably can), you may need
to plug the meter once. Then you can leave the car
overnight if need be.

On Saturday morning, I
recommend a corner lot (outdoor) adjacent to Howard
Johnson's at Kenmore Square. For $6 you can park all day.
There is a lot closer to the CAS building, next to
Burger King, that charges $12 for people to park all
day.

All rooms Friday and all but five of the rooms
Saturday will be in the CAS building. Five rooms Saturday
will be at the Theology Building, just across a small
plaza from the CAS building. The plaza (in front of
Marsh Chapel) is small enough that the westernmost CAS
rooms will actually be closer to the Theology rooms
than to rooms on the other edge of the CAS
building.

Within CAS itself we have five floors worth of rooms. On
each floor, all even-numbered rooms are on the side
closest to the river; odd-numbered rooms are on the side
closest to the street. Room numbers count up from west to
east (left to right if you're facing the building from
the sidewalk outside).

Play will resume
promptly at 9 a.m. Saturday. Be there by 8:30 if you are a
game official, 8:45 if you are a player. Some room
assignments will change between Friday and Saturday.
Tournament HQ, however, will always be Room 223.

See
you soon,
Matt Bruce
