Regarding upper-case TRASH tournaments (ones that are affiliated with
the organization TRASH), the date and location of TRASHionals has yet
to be set but will probably be in or around April (though if you
didn't play at Regionals last weekend on a team that ends up
qualifying, you'll have to latch on as a free agent or get on the
waiting list once that is opened up). TRASH Regionals is
traditionally held across the country the weekend after Election Day
in the fall. There are usually sites in both of the regions you
mentioned.

For independent trash events (pop culture tournaments not affiliated
with TRASH), I can't speak for the Midwest. For the Southeast,
Florida usually runs a sorta-mirror of Michigan's Ann B. Davis or
packet-submission event with their SSI academic tournament on MLK
weekend. Robin Richards (of Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, GA)
also holds a spring trash tournament around Spring Break weekend and a
hybrid academic and trash tournament in the summer. UT-Chattanooga
traditionally hosts a number of trash tournaments throughout the year:
RC Cola (the upcoming one is tentatively scheduled for March 30),
Summer Camp in the summer (duh), Big Lots in the fall (usually in
October and paired with the COTKU academic tournament), and
Trashmasters (usually the first weekend in December). That last one
will be held on the weekend of December 1 this year.

If you want the most up-to-date tournament information, your best bet
is to use the message board at The Quizbowl Resource Center
(http://www.hsquizbowl.org/phpBB2/). That's where most people post
tournament announcements these days.
