The Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence proudly announces
the 2008 recipients of the Benjamin Cooper Awards.

The Academic Ambassador Award: Matt Knupp of Russell HS, KY

for his efforts in supporting and improving academic competition in
Kentucky, specifically his outreach efforts to other KY coaches and
teams, efforts to build a coaches' network in the state, and his
efforts to promote high ethical and sportsmanship standards among KY
coaches while in the KAAC.

The Young Ambassador Award: Lee Henry of Brindlee Mountain High School, AL

in recognition of his dedication and effort in building Alabama
Quizbowl, specifically building a framework for pyramidal play, and
facilitating interactions between Alabama teams, out-of-state teams
and outside vendors.

In solidarity with ACF's choice of Chris Sewell for their Gordon
Carper Award, PACE would like to award him a second Young Ambassador
Award. His development of the stat program SQBS has also greatly
assisted in the operation of many a High School Tournament.

PACE congratulates Matt, Lee and Chris; they will be formally
recognized for their contributions in service to the high school
academic competition circuit at the 2008 National Scholastics
Championship.

We also thank everyone who has provided assistance/input in selecting
this year's award recipients. Selection is -- as it has been for years
-- a fairly tough decision. All those nominated this year will
certainly be considered for the next round.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Fairfax!

Regards,
Tricia Southard
on behalf of the Benjamin Cooper Awards Committee and PACE
