I, for one, am truly sorry to hear that this is
being dropped. Experimentation and creativity with
formats should be encouraged, especially at trash and
summer tournaments.

In this club and on the
mailing list, the people who actually post represent a
tiny minority of the people on the list. To react to
the criticism of the few as if it represents the
consensus of the many is usually unwarranted.

People
will always come up with seemingly persuasive reasons
as to why something won't work. When it comes to
format design for a game, I think it's generally better
to try ouy new innovations than to get discouraged
by doubters. If an innovation doesn't work, it can
be scrapped for future tournaments without too much
damage to reputation. Indeed, I tend to think more
highly of those willing to experiment and fail than
those who never try anything different at
all.

But that's just my opinion. :)
