come now, how can you compare your accomplishments to
the simple enjoyment that a high schooler gets out of
the game. Certainly, her attitude is to be
encouraged. We can't expect everyone to go around starting
quiz bowl programs. Does it even mean you love the
game more than her, or rather you have been situations
where you have been able to start programs?
I
do applaud your efforts in starting the programs,
and of course I can't claim any such accomplishments
myself. But I fear her comments were made to (mostly) the
wrong people, since she can't really relate to someone
who's been involved in quiz bowl as long as many of you
have. So please, don't respond to a lighthearted
comment with statistics or your quiz bowl resume, if you
care to respond, do so in the manner of the original
post.
