This is true. That said,
one can endeavor to criticism of music. Some
critiques are more intelligent than others. There's a
reason why music is a field of academic study, and also
a reason why the study of aesthetics remains part
of the study of philosophy. :-)

(Whether
philosophy itself is a useful way to determine the truth, or
whether truth exists, is an exercise to the reader, FAR
beyond the scope of this forum.)

Although I think
the original criticism of rap was off-base, it is at
least a valid critique to offer. Some music is great,
by general consensus. Some just isn't. The fact that
opinions differ is no reason not press our
opinions.
