I disagree. They reward people with
a deep knowledge of US (or occasionally world)
geography, which I've always thought is an under-represented
subject. Of course, I _would_ think that, since I've had a
passion for maps since I was a young kid. Do you pay
attention to US maps? The Weather Channel? Travel news? Or
the current question, the internet internationally? I
can see no reason why such sources of information
should be discredited.
"Name the interstate
highway that goes through these three cities" is no more
or less lame than "Name the biggest river in these
African countries ...".
