Whatever happened to that Kleist guy?

Yes, people... calm down... think of Kleist...
Kleist...

As for this whole issue, I am convinced that in the
majority of cases, arguments and grudges affect those who
choose to be affected by them. As for myself, I do not
hold any grudge against anyone on the circuit. (This
may be due more to an extremely bad memory for
people... perhaps if I had some chance of recognizing them
when I met them again, this would make grudges
possible.)
Yes, there are certain aspects of certain
people's personalities which I don't like. But heck, I
don't really know any of you outside of College Bowl,
so who am I to judge? As far as I know, I have never
seriously offended anyone on the circuit; if I have, and it
is something I can change, please let me know about
it. If I have, and it's buried in the past, we all
might as well forget it, for it cannot be changed. And
in most cases, that's the only distinction, at least
for me. I'm willing to concede that there are
offenses so serious that they must be brought up after
they are finished, but they certainly don't need to be
brought up here. Discuss them privately; if legal action
seems necessary, then go to it -- but don't drag
everyone into it.

As for myself, I'd like to state
that nobody on the circuit angers me at present,
though I confess to a deep and abiding anger for
Jean-Jacques Rousseau. As for the rest of you, I do not know,
nor do I wish to know, about your quarrels, and I
think (though I don't want to speak for other people,
and if you disagree, you may ridicule me as you wish)
that that applies to practically everyone in this
world -- if it doesn't concern me directly, I don't
want your biases.

So what am I saying?

Get angry if you must, but try to avoid it. If anger
seems called for, keep it to yourself, the other people
involved in the incident, and law enforcement if need be.
I'm not saying I'm absolutely right here, or that I
myself am above reproach in this issue, but that's my
two cents.
