Ann B. Davis Results

The 2001 Ann B. Davis Trash Tournament was held
on the foggy Central Campus of the University of
Michigan on the 14th of January. 14 teams representing
various backgrounds, whether still or student or still
wishing they were one, came and completed in the finest
Trash Tournament held on the Sunday before the third
Monday in January anywhere in Washtenaw County. Teams
were playing for calendars from the collection of the
calendar kiosk from Briarwood Mall, which included such
selections as Scooby Doo, Ziggy, Cathy, Dr. Laura and Pop-Up
Video. Individual awards included a Macaulay Culkin fan
magazine, a cross stitch set in Hebrew, and a
labelmaker.

Teams were split into two groups before play started
based on past results and team composition. Within
those groups, a round-robin was played, with the top
four teams in each group advancing to the championship
round, while the lower three teams descending into the
consolation round, with records against the other teams in
your group carrying over. In retrospect, the Jobriath
Group definitely proved to be the stronger of the two
groups, as they went 15-10 in the afternoon games. Dude,
Where's my Gerbil? went a perfect 10-0 to go into the
final game, while Fever Dog by Stillwater used their
360-300 preliminary round win against Uri Geller,
Superstar to join the Gerbils. Although Fever Dog was able
to successfully remove four of the body parts from
Sam in the Operation bonus and correctly identified 3
1970's athletes from their afros, the Gerbils prevailed
397-195. Complete results of the tournament maybe found at

I would like to thank Kevin Olmstead, Doug and Amie
for their tireless staffing during the tournament
since promised help failed to show with their famous
voices. I would also like to thank many of the players
who staffed on their byes to help the staff
shortfall. It has always been my goal with this tournament
to bring players in who wish to have a good time and
can have fun even if their abilities may not be the
best, and I hoped I accomplished that.
