Re: Mike's question (was Samer's)

Responding to Mike Davidson: schools may earn
more than one invitation to the ICT if they earn them
all through SCT play. What I meant to be saying
before was that the "backdoor" route of qualifying via
top placement in IFTs was meant to come into play
only for a school not otherwise (i.e., via SCTs)
qualifying; that normally the IFTs would not be a means of
giving a school that already has a Div. I invitation
another one.

(For particular and unusual reasons,
last year an Oklahoma IFT team that consisted of 100%
different personnel from the Oklahoma team playing (and
qualifying) at the SCTs, was also given an invitation off of
the waitlist (which they wound up declining). That
was an exception we had to make last year in order to
follow through on a representation made to Oklahoma well
before sectionals that this would be possible, but
present and future intent is to hew to the policy as now
stated, that qualification through IFT results is
possible only for schools not otherwise qualifying a team
in the pertinent division, as outlined in an earlier
message.)
