long-winded way is that when we try to attract circuit teams
to upcoming events, we try to focus on things
like
the quality of the field and the low cost. When
we talk with non-circuit teams, we have to convince
them that paying ANY cost is not too much
(and can
be funded by the university) and the time commitment
is worthwhile. >>
This is why I think
we should concentrate on saying quizbowl is fun, not
because it is some high activity which is its own reward,
but because it has entertaining social aspects. I,
for one, feel that quizbowl has been, and continues
to be worth my time, due to the close friends I have
made because of it.
CBI tends to be a superior
experience for most people in all but the quality of
questions and moderating. True, that's a big BUT for most
of us, but it's what we have to deal with.
