My understanding of the reason that Williams was
waitlisted while Yale and MIT qualified is that both MIT and
Yale outperformed Williams in the relevant statistics
NAQT incorporates into the formula for determining ICT
rankings. The difference between MIT and Yale (who
qualified) and Williams (who was waitlisted) was probably
not all that large, judging by the numbers seen, but
significant enough that several teams from other SCT's could
fit into the gap, and relegate Williams to the
waitlist.
