Well, I dropped by Wisconsin Luteran College in
Milwaukee to help out.
In a thrilling three-game
finals, the University of Wisconsin-Madison won the first
game, before the University of Chicago came back to win
the last two games and the championship. Congrats to
Jeff, Peter S., Peter O., and Amanda, who were also all
charming lunchtime companions.
The finals seemed
even more exciting as they played to a packed house,
since a Chicago outreach program for high school
students to tour college campuses tromped into the room.
Having talked to a couple of them, they were familiar
with quizbowl, having participated in some form of it
in high school (although that may just be Academic
Decathlon).
Third place went to the University of Illinois-Chicago,
I believe. Unfortunately, I didn't snag a copy of
the results, so I can't go any further. But I would
like to thank Paul Terzino and the rest of the staff
for welcoming me. Talking to both players and staff
the whole day, it seemed like everyone had a lot of
fun.
