NAQT ICT 2002 -- Call for Bids

National Academic Quiz Tournaments, LLC, is
pleased to announce that it is now accepting bids from
colleges to host the Intercollegiate Championship
Tournament (ICT) in the 2001-2002 competition
year.

The ICT will be held the weekend of April 7, 2002.
Interested hosts should e-mail naqt_at_... by April 27,
2001, to indicate their desire to host.

Factors
that NAQT will consider in making the decision
include:

* Proximity to a major airport
* Availability
and convenience of gamerooms and hotel rooms
*
Enthusiasm of the club and its institution
* Experience
of the club and its institution
* Availability of
moderators, scorekeepers, and other officials in the
area
* Unique perks a host site or club is willing to
provide
 (By which we mean things like NTN or a Theme
Park, not bribes)

The application to host must
be made by a team member or advisor who plans on
remaining with the host institution throughout the
2001-2002 competition year and who intends to take an
active role in the planning and execution of the
event.

Unlike the Sectional and Fall Tournaments which are run
primarily by the hosts, the ICT is directed by NAQT
personnel with the assistance of the host club and
institution.

Hosting the ICT does not provide the host with an
automatic berth in the tournament.

The host may
expect a combined Division I and Division II field size
of between 60 and 70 teams and should be prepared to
run 30 to 35 rooms simultaneously. The host club or
institution will receive $20 per team (Division I or Division
II) in attendance.

The host club or
institution will be expected to deal with room reservations,
tour arrangements (if applicable), travel
arrangements, assisting teams to and from the game area,
reserving blocks of hotel rooms, helping with publicity,
providing information on nearby restaurants and
attractions, setting up the game rooms and computer equipment,
supplying moderators and scorekeepers, and other tasks
necessary to the running of a smooth tournament.
