Re: Help for a high school tournament

1. If you're going to do it, do it in April. You
need the extra month to prepare. This is particularly
true with high schools, who are usually markedly less
forgiving of problems and who usually require more
supervision.

2. If you are a small program, do a "gut check" and
make sure that you have enough people to run a
tournament. I was co-TD for a tournament that had bare-bones
staffing to start with - this made things interesting when
a few people who had committed to read never
showed.

3. Check out

4. Ask local programs or people for help. Be
prepared to buy these helpers dinner at Le Bec Fin,
however :-)

5. If you can get a message out
relatively quickly, you probably won't have much of a
problem drawing teams - the great thing about high school
quizbowl is that there's a much larger set of teams from
which to draw.
