Assuming that both auditory and visual methods are being
used, when do you reveal a word? At the time the
moderator begins saying the word, giving an advantage to
the reading player(s), or at the time the moderator
finishes the word, giving the advantage to the listening
player(s)? And what if the moderator stumbles over a word?
If you're going to have a different method, I think
you have to have everyone play by that method in any
given room... too many discrepancies otherwise, too
many buzzer races won or lost. <<
Very
interesting point. My opinion, for whatever it's worth, is
now leaning towards dropping the articulating
moderator entirely in games involving the hearing-impaired
school.
I'd also suggest giving each opponent a chance to
warm up to the system on a few exhibition questions
before each game involving the school.
