ICI Update

Here's an update on the Iron City Inquisition,
schedule for Saturday, March 17 here at Pitt. Anything not
covered below may be answered by emailing
darwins_bulldog1138_at_... or epsst13_at_... .

All tournament
components will take place in the Cathedral of Learning at
Fifth and Bigelow, which can be easily located by
taking any Oakland exit off the interstate and driving
towards the tall building that looks like a cathedral. If
you need specific directions from your hotel, e-mail
us. Registration will begin at 9 AM in room G24
(ground floor). We project starting play at 9:30 AM.
Consider this fair warning if you show up late.

The
following teams will be attending:
Carnegie
Mellon
Duke
George
Washington
Kentucky*
Rochester*
Virginia

*=packet has been submitted in acceptable form

I've
also heard intimations of varying degrees of
reliability that the following teams might be attending and
would appreciate updates on their status:
Bowling
Green
Johns Hopkins
Penn
State
Princeton
Rutgers

The deadline for submitting a packet is March 10
(this coming Saturday). As of now, we are opening the
field to teams who do not write packets; however, in
order to be fair to those who did put in the effort of
writing, teams who do not submit packets will be assessed
an additional $50 fee and will be subject to a
minimum fee of $100. So, you're advised to get packets in
by March 10. If you plan on submitting one but can't
get it in by then, write us and explain, and we'll
work out your fee. Full information on fee structure,
packet requirements, and more may be found at
http://www.pitt.edu/~epsst13/qb/ici2k1.htm .

Should the field remain at 6 teams, the
tournament format will be a double round robin, with a
best-of-3 final if there is no outright winner based on
record. We would be happy to welcome more teams into the
field, in which case the format will be
adjusted.

Information on hotels may be found below.

<<I
heartily suggest investigating the myriad of hotels near
the airport (for those coming from the west and
north) or out in Monroeville (for those coming from the
east and south), as the
hotels are plentiful and
cheap. For those who wish to stay in the heart of
Oakland ...
