What you say I believe to be partially true. It
depends largely on the player. In the past two years we
have produced two very good players. One of them went
off to college, and I believe still does quiz bowl,
but relative to our big player this year, he isn't
that good. The other guy is probably one of the best
one-man team players I've ever seen, and he's still on
the top of his game. So really it just depends on
whether they keep up or not.
As to your
cross-format competition, I somehow have the feeling that an
ACF champion could take down Jeopardy! champions just
because of the sheer buzzer experience.
I
personally find your statement very interesting, and worth
testing out if the opportunity were ever to
arise.
