Yeah, but a lot of times if you have two teams
from one school playing each other, the lower one will
have an unofficial agreement with the higher one not
to win, especially, I think, in single elim tourneys
with difficult fields. Not to mention that those
players probably play each other every week in practice.
People pay to go to a tournament to see how they stack
up against other people. I agree that in certain
playoff systems, it can't be helped, especially (for a
school with multiple strong teams) in the later stages.
But I think it's generally a good idea to keep such
situations to a minumum.
