You could apply a
chi-square test, which is the most commonly used test for
the randomness of data, and is extremely sensitive to
errors in pseudorandom sequence generators, such as
those suggested in this forum. Look around the web for
a freeware plug-in for Excel or maybe Word tables.
I can't recall one right off the bat, but I'm sure
they're out there. Still, though, I don't think these
randomization schemes beat a good (human) editor.
